Site notes
The Homosassa station is located at 28° 46.34' N (28.772° N) and 82° 42.43' W (82.707° W) on the top of USCG channel marker #26 at the entrance to Homosassa river, Citrus County, Florida. It is a 5-pile wooden structure with a 4 ft by 4 ft platform. The SW and NE sides display `26' on a triangular red day shape. The red Coast Guard navigation light is a 4-second flasher 16 ft above MHHW. Onboard instrumentation monitors Wind Speed/Direction, Relative Humidity/Air
Temperature, Barometric Pressure, Precipitation, Water Level, Water Temperature and Salinity. Data is
hourly transmitted via the GOES satellite for internet posting as well as
radio modemed directly to the Citrus County Office of Emergency Management.
Site funding is via a cooperative effort between the Citrus County Office of
Emergency Management and the University of South Florida's/College of Marine
Science.
