Site notes
The COMPS Port Richey Station is physically located 28° 17.108' N
(28.285 N) and 82° 43.948' W (82.732 W) along the south western edge of
Koons Road within the city of Port Richey's Brasher Park (Port Richey
Recreation Center). The 4 pile structure, approximately 13' offshore in 6'
of water, is
approximately 7'x 9' (9' aligned to the shore) with the platform deck height
approximately 6' above MHHW. Mounted on the decking is a instrument tower
housing Wind Speed/Direction (approximately 34' above MHHW), Relative
Humidity/Air Temperature, Barometric Pressure, and Precipitation
instrumentation. Data is hourly transmitted via the GOES satellite. Site
funding is via a cooperative effort between the Pasco County Division of
Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, and the University of
South Florida's/College of Marine Science. This site became an operational
COMPS coastal station on 4/10/2002.
